Washington ~ June 2012

My first long trip of the summer was a visit to Washington State. From scrub brush in the southeast to ever-green in the northwest – a beautiful place! It rained nearly the entire time but I enjoyed the trip just the same ;-) Here are two pretty stops on this journey…

Westport Light State Park is along an amazing stretch of beach where shells and sand dollars are everywhere – collections were enhanced from the last visit.

Snoqualmie Falls is a wonderful sight and I usually visit the park each year. This trip I enjoyed it from a different perspective. We took the train along the opposite side of the river and perched above the base of the falls for a few minutes. It was raining but that didn’t matter – it was amazing anyway!

Happy Mistakes

I’m sure you’ve all had a brain cramp, at least once…I have learned to admit my mistakes rather than ignore them as I might gain something in the process. Yes, I know, it took me while to figure that one out ;-)

Long story short - I forgot to reset the white balance after night-time shooting…OOPS!  But not to worry, I eventually figured it out! Only a little later than I should have.  With this lesson-learned, I actually gained something eerily beautiful. My images of Devil’s Kitchen came out, well, other-world-like. I’m not sure that I want to “correct” them in Photoshop. Definitely a happy mistake :-)

Well, I’ve started something….

…and it just keeps going and going!  I have been having so much fun learning WordPress, jQuery and Dreamweaver!  I’ve played with CSS and HTML, sorted through thousands of images, tried on a handful of different slide show codes, mapped new pages, created “logo” images….creativity is exhausting ;-) I’ve decided to click the “Publish” button and share what I have completed so far and call it done – for now.  It’s a process; I can always come back to it and tinker!

There are a few places (some new, some old) to look forward to as this year continues….Seattle, Canada, China, Disneyland Half Marathon and Mexico. I’m anticipating beautiful pictures and priceless memories. I endeavor to be diligent in updating images and posts - so please come along with me on these, and many more, adventures!

Here’s to focusing on my photography,  updating my website and creating this blog! (Hint: To reach my website from here, click on Return to Gallery under my logo image :)
